Beat Machine is one shared 16-step drum pattern that everybody in the Room edits together. Eight percussion sounds sit on the rows: tap the cells to place hits, press Play, and each person hears the loop on their own device. Change a cell and the pattern changes for the whole Room, so two people can build the same beat at the same time.

How it works
- Open Beat Machine in a Room, then press Enable sound once so your browser allows audio.
- Tap cells on the grid to place hits, then press Play. Everyone in the Room sees the same pattern.
- Keep editing together, change the shared tempo, or press Resync to line everybody up at the next bar.

Why use it in a Free4Chat Room
The fun is doing it while you talk. Because the pattern is one shared object rather than a file somebody sends, the Room's voice and chat become the studio: one person places a kick, somebody answers with a snare, and the loop keeps running the whole time. Anyone joining late picks the pattern up mid-bar, and Resync pulls everyone back onto the same bar.
Limits & privacy
Everything is local and temporary. The sounds play through your own browser's audio, nothing is streamed, nothing is recorded, and there is no microphone and no audio service behind it. There is also no export: no download, no render and no saved project, so the beat exists only while the Room does. Each person has to press Enable sound once, because browsers refuse to play audio until they do.

Can I download or export the beat?
Not today. There is no recording, no render and no download, so the pattern is live and temporary and disappears with the Room.
Why can't I hear anything?
Browsers block audio until you interact with the page, so press Enable sound once. On an iPhone, also check that the silent switch is off.
Does everyone hear the same thing?
Everyone shares one pattern and one tempo, and each device plays it locally, so what you hear depends on your own speakers or headphones.
Can we sing or use a microphone over the beat?
No. There is no microphone input, no recording and no streaming. The App only plays its own eight built-in sounds.
Do we need accounts or an install?
No. There is no signup, no download and nothing to install: the pattern lives in the temporary Room you are already in.
Can two people edit the pattern at once?
Yes. Simultaneous edits are resolved deterministically so everyone converges on the same pattern rather than keeping conflicting versions.
