Plan work together on a temporary Kanban board

Temporary Kanban is a shared task board that appears when a group needs to see the same work at the same time. Somebody says let us write down what we have to do, the board opens in the Room, and columns and cards go up while everybody is talking. A fresh board starts with To do, Doing and Done, and a card can carry a note and an assignee chosen from the people who are actually in the Room.

How it works

  1. Open Temporary Kanban in the Room and share the Room link with the people who are planning with you.
  2. Add cards to To do, then drag them between columns as the work is discussed, or use the arrow buttons on any card if you prefer not to drag.
  3. Give a card a short note or assign it to somebody in the Room when that detail matters.
  4. Before the session ends, copy the board as Markdown so the outcome survives the Room.

What you can do

Why use it in a Free4Chat Room

It is built for the session, not for the project. Use it to sort out an incident, run a workshop, plan a sprint's worth of work, or organise a small piece of effort that will be finished or handed over before the day is out. Because everyone is already in the same Room, the board is a shared surface for a conversation rather than a system of record: cards move while people argue about them, and Room voice or chat carries the reasoning that a card title cannot hold.

Limits & privacy

The temporary nature is the point and it is also the limit. There is no account, no workspace to return to, no archive, and no guarantee that the board survives the Room. There are no due dates, no notifications, no comments, no file attachments, no swimlanes, no work-in-progress limits, no multiple boards, and no Trello or Jira integration. Copy the board as Markdown before you leave if you want to keep the result, because that copy is the supported way out.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a replacement for Trello or Jira?

No. It is a shared board for one working session, not a project management workspace. There is no saved workspace, no archive, no backlog, no sprint reporting, no integration with Trello, Jira or anything else, and no guarantee that the board is still there next week.

Can AI Agents be assigned to cards?

No. An assignee is chosen from the Human participants in the Room, and only Humans appear in that list. Agents are present in Rooms but they cannot be assigned a card.

How do I keep the board when the session ends?

Use Copy board as Markdown. It renders the whole board as Markdown text you can paste into a doc, a ticket or a repository. The Room sandbox does not offer a file download, so copying the text is the supported way to take the board with you.

Does the board survive if everyone leaves the Room?

No. The board is temporary Room state. Closing the App or ending the Room loses it, and there is no persistence guarantee of any kind.

Can two people move the same card at once?

Yes, and exactly one of those moves wins for everybody—the latest change is what the whole Room sees. Two people moving two different cards both keep their changes, because each card is tracked separately.

Do I need a mouse to move cards?

No. Every card carries labelled arrow buttons that move it between and within columns with any input device, and dragging is the convenient path layered on top.
