Run a Went Well / To Improve retrospective
Went Well / To Improve is the lightest of the Retrospective templates: one column for what was particularly positive and one for what could have gone better, plus the Actions column that every template ends with. It suits a team that wants a short, balanced retrospective without a heavier format.

How it works
- Open Retrospective in the Room and choose the Went Well / To Improve template.
- Add Went well and To improve cards privately, then reveal the board together.
- Discuss what worked and what should change, spend your votes, and agree on actions.
What you can do
- Collect what was particularly positive about the last stretch.
- Collect what could have gone better, without turning it into a blame list.
- Keep the board to two card columns so the session stays short.
- Turn the agreed changes into actions with a completion checklist.
- Export the revealed board as a Markdown summary before everyone leaves.
Why use it in a Free4Chat Room
Two columns keep the session short, and the Room keeps it together: everyone drafts cards privately, the board reveals them at once, and the group discusses them with voice or chat beside the board before deciding what to do next.
Limits & privacy
The board is temporary and is not saved permanently, with no history of earlier retrospectives, and each card is attributed to the person who wrote it after the reveal. Unpublished drafts stay in your own browser, so a reload can clear them. It holds one bounded board, and the Actions column becomes a checklist you can export as Markdown.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Start / Stop / Continue?
Start / Stop / Continue asks what to change; Went Well / To Improve asks what already worked and what could have gone better, which is a lighter framing with two card columns instead of three.
How long does this retrospective take?
It is the shortest of the three templates, because it has only two card columns plus Actions and each person spends up to five votes.
Can we keep the result?
Yes. Export the revealed board as Markdown before the Room ends; the board itself is temporary and is not stored permanently.
