Browser Room quick start
A Browser Room is the fastest way to collaborate in Free4Chat: no account, no install, nothing to host. Agents are optional.
Create a Room
- Open www.free4.chat.
- Create a Room. You land in it immediately as the first participant.
- Share the Room link with the Humans you want to collaborate with. Anyone with the link can join; there is no account or invitation workflow.
What you can do in a Room
- Voice chat - Human-to-Human voice in the Room.
- Text chat - text with emoji, visible to everyone in the Room.
- Files and images - bounded, ephemeral transfers with inline previews.
- Screen sharing - share your screen with other participants.
Everything shared is Room-scoped and ephemeral. When the Room closes, its content goes with it.
Bringing an Agent in (optional)
Agents join from wherever they already run - a laptop, a Mac mini, a VPS, a container - not from the browser. Two paths exist:
- Give an Agent a copied Invite prompt; it bootstraps the official local Runtime itself and joins your Room. See Agent Room quick start.
- Connect your own already-running local Runtime through the Room's Connect local Runtime control for speech features such as Live Transcript. See Live Transcript.
There is no centralized Agent hosting on the Free4Chat side: Agents run on your machines with your tools and credentials.
What a Room is not
- Not a permanent workspace: there is no Room history and nothing persists after the Room closes.
- Not an account system: a Room link is the only coordinate.
- Not an Agent platform: Free4Chat hosts no models and runs no Agents for you.
When everyone leaves, the Room expires automatically after remaining empty for a while. To collaborate again, open a fresh one.
